Pushed towards the exit at Al-Hilal, Neymar is poised to make a return to Santos, the club where his career began. Recent reports indicate that the Brazilian is ready to make significant financial sacrifices to facilitate this move.
In recent weeks, various clubs, including Chicago Fire, Flamengo, and Santos, have expressed interest in the Neymar saga. With his contract set to expire in June, the former PSG forward no longer fits into the plans of Jorge Jesus, the Al-Hilal coach, who stated that the 32-year-old player no longer possesses the level required for modern football. Consequently, Neymar has not been included in the squad for the second half of the season, with Al-Hilal eager to offload his hefty contract. After joining the Gulf club in the summer of 2023, the ex-Barça star is expected to exit the Riyadh club soon.
Recently, UOL Esporte reported that Neymar has already made his choice: he wants to return to his formative club, Santos. “Yes, we are interested in signing Neymar in January, but the player must first conclude discussions regarding his departure from his current club. For us to include Neymar, we must also address financial matters with him, in addition to allowing him to finalize his exit from Al-Hilal,” stated a Peixe official.
