The list of nominees for the 2024 Kopa Trophy has been unveiled, featuring standout talents such as Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo.
The Kopa Trophy, previously awarded to rising stars like Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, honors the most impressive under-21 footballer from the 2023/24 season. The winner, chosen by former Ballon d’Or recipients, will be crowned at the highly anticipated ceremony in Paris on October 28.
Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are among the nominees, recognized for their notable performances in the Premier League. Despite a challenging season for the team, Mainoo’s remarkable form earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad, while Garnacho continued to shine on the field.
Barcelona’s 17-year-old prodigy, Lamine Yamal, also secured a spot on the shortlist after a historic run with Spain, including becoming the youngest player to score in the European Championships. Other nominees include Real Madrid’s Arda Guler, Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, and PSG’s Warren Zaire-Emery, all celebrated for their exceptional skills and contributions to their respective teams.
