Vipers SC, delivered a commanding performance to defeat URA FC by 2-0 in a highly anticipated Uganda Premier League clash. The victory , propelled Vipers to maintain the top of the league table with 37 points from 16 matches, with NEC FC who sit second with 33 points.
The match started with both teams displaying defensive discipline and tactical awareness, making it difficult for either side to find an early breakthrough. Vipers, however, gradually took control of possession, pressing high and forcing errors from URA’s backline. The deadlock was finally broken in the 55th minute when star midfielder Allan Okello calmly slotted home a penalty, sending the home crowd into celebration.
With a goal advantage, Vipers continued to press forward, seeking to extend their lead. URA attempted to respond through counter-attacks, but the defensive pairing of Geoffrey Wasswa and Livingstone Mulondo remained solid at the back. The decisive moment came in the 77th minute when Enock Luyima found the back of the net with a well-placed strike, doubling Vipers’ lead and putting the game beyond URA’s reach.
In the final minutes, The Venoms made tactical substitutions to maintain their dominance and secure the three points. Livingstone Mulondo replaced Hilary Mukundane in the 90th minute, while Abubakali Walusimbi came on for Allan Okello in the 89th minute. Annest Ankunda also replaced Junior Yunus Sentamu, ensuring fresh legs in midfield to close out the game comfortably.
