URA FC have reinforced their backroom staff under head coach Alex Isabirye by appointing the vastly experienced Edward Golola as the club’s new first assistant coach. The veteran tactician has already linked up with the squad as preparations intensify for the new campaign.
Born on 22nd December 1971, Golola boasts a rich footballing background, shaped by both academic and technical expertise. A former student of Lubiri Secondary School and Nakasero, he later pursued professional coaching qualifications. Proficient in English, Swahili, and Luganda, he brings excellent communication skills to diverse football environments.
Golola’s credentials speak volumes. He holds a UEFA coaching license from Germany, a CAF B license, and a Youth Coaching Certificate—testament to his ability to manage both senior teams and youth development projects.
His coaching journey began with Kampala Citizen FC (2001–2003), before rising to prominence with remarkable achievements across different competitions. He steered teams to three Buganda regional tournament titles, nine National Secondary School championships, and nine East African School Championships.
At the club level, Golola made his mark at Vipers SC, where his tactical prowess delivered historic victories. He guided the club to the 2008 Uganda Premier League title, repeated the feat in 2009/10, and clinched the Uganda Cup in 2016. His outstanding performance earned him the Azam Premier League Best Manager of the Year (2014/15). He later added the Pilsner Super 8 trophy (2017/18) to his impressive collection.
Renowned for nurturing young talent and driving teams to silverware, Golola’s wealth of experience will be vital in pushing URA FC closer to its ambitions. The Tax Collectors believe the combination of Isabirye’s leadership and Golola’s tactical acumen could be the perfect formula for success this season.
