Result: UPDF 1-0 Lugazi
Andrew Samson Kigozi’s late goal secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory for UPDF FC over Lugazi FC in the Uganda Premier League at Bombo Military Grounds on Thursday.
The win lifted UPDF to four points from two matches, while Lugazi remained winless after suffering their second consecutive defeat.
Despite dominating much of the game, UPDF struggled to convert their chances in the final third.
Farid Rashid and Samuel Ssekamatte both came close to breaking the deadlock, but Lugazi goalkeeper Fahad Emuran made some crucial saves.
The breakthrough finally came in the 78th minute when Kigozi found the net with a well-placed finish after receiving a pass from Hussein Zzinda.
UPDF will now look to build on their victory when they face NEC at MTN Omondi Stadium on Tuesday, September 24.
Lugazi, on the other hand, will host Vipers in Najjembe on Thursday, September 22.
