The 2024/25 Uganda Premier League season kicks off on Friday with a highly anticipated clash between defending champions KCCA FC and URA FC.
The match will take place at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Both teams will be looking to start the season on a winning note and set the tone for the rest of the campaign.
KCCA head coach Abdallah Mubiru is confident that his players are ready to hit the ground running.
“We want to start the league on a positive note as this will give us momentum,” Mubiru said.
“We have prepared well and hopefully the players can execute the things we have been working on during pre-season.”
URA gaffer Alex Isabirye is also optimistic about his team’s chances.
“We are building a team that will compete,” Isabirye said.
“I am a natural born winner and I want trophies here and our target this season is to achieve something at the end.”
KCCA will be looking to avoid a repeat of their slow start last season, when they went winless in their first five matches.
The Kasasiro Boys have a strong squad and will be determined to get off to a good start.
URA, on the other hand, has been building a competitive team and will be looking to challenge for the title this season.
The Tax Collectors have a talented squad and will be hoping to cause an upset against the defending champions.
The rivalry between KCCA and URA is always intense, and this match is sure to be no exception.
Both teams will be eager to come out on top and make a statement in the opening game of the season.
