The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has officially unveiled Uganda’s final 25-man squad for the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
Coach Morley Byekwaso made the announcement at the FUFA Complex in Mengo, confirming notable omissions including Ronald Otti (Kitara FC), Hannington Sebwalunyo (NEC FC), midfielder Jerome Kirya (Bul FC), and Shamir Kimwero (NEC FC), who were all dropped in the final selection.
The squad will be captained by Vipers FC playmaker Allan Okello, who is expected to lead the team with experience and composure as Uganda sets its sights on progressing beyond the group stage for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Uganda will kick off the tournament with a highly anticipated opening match against Algeria on August 4, 2025, at the newly renovated Namboole Stadium, followed by a clash with Guinea on August 8, 2025.
