Following a disappointing start to their TotalEnergies CHAN 2024 campaign, the Uganda Cranes returned to training with a recovery session held on Tuesday evening at the FUFA Stadium in Kadiba.
The national team suffered a 3-0 loss to North African heavyweights Algeria in their opening Group C fixture on Monday night at Mandela National Stadium — a result that left both fans and players frustrated.
With focus now shifting to Friday’s must-win clash against Guinea, the Cranes regrouped at the recently inaugurated Kadiba facility in Mengo, Rubaga Division, Kampala. The state-of-the-art stadium, a FIFA-funded project launched in 2018, represents one of the latest strides in Uganda’s football infrastructure development.
During the session, the technical team concentrated on rectifying the issues exposed in the Algeria match. Special attention was given to improving attacking sharpness, defensive organization, and overall concentration.
Group C action resumes on Friday, August 8th, with Algeria taking on South Africa in the early kickoff. Uganda will then face Guinea in the second match of the day — a crucial encounter that could determine their fate in the race to the knockout stages.
