Uganda Cranes are set to face off against Congo Brazzaville in a crucial AFCON qualifier match at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, on Monday.
This will be Uganda’s second game in the qualifiers, but their first home fixture since their opening clash against South Africa in Johannesburg.
Head coach Paul Put is optimistic about his team’s chances of securing a victory, emphasizing their determination to collect maximum points.
“We are targeting a win,” Put stated.
“Congo has a strong team with several players in top leagues, so we’re not taking them lightly.”
Despite acknowledging that his team is still developing, Put expressed satisfaction with their progress and expressed confidence in their ability to achieve their goals.
“We’re a work in progress, but I’m impressed with how far we’ve come,” he added.
“The players have recovered well from their limited rest.”
The Uganda Cranes narrowly missed out on a win in their previous match, drawing 2-2 against South Africa.
Meanwhile, Congo Brazzaville secured a 1-0 victory over South Sudan and will be aiming to maintain their perfect record in the qualifiers.
