UCU Lady Doves registered a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Nemostars in the National Volleyball League at Nsambya Grounds on Sunday.
The Lady Doves extended their winning streak to four victories. Earlier, UCU secured victories against KAVC, Ndejje Elites, and KCCA.
Nemostars took an early lead of 25-20 as UCU Lady Doves struggled on the reception.
Despite the Mukono-based side’s push, Nemostars kept their heads high to take the second set 25-23, setting up a mouth-watering third set.
The Lady Doves got out of the shells and thumped Nemostars 25-12 in the third to return into the game.
The fourth set was closely contested as Nemostars wanted to close down the game, but UCU edged the block 25-22.
In the final set, UCU just did the needful to take it with a 15-11 lead, thus securing two points on the day.
UCU Lady Doves head coach Juma Osunge revealed the team hardly prepared fully due to tough time schedules.
“We have been training, but one thing our fans need to know is that most players who happen to also be students are doing internships,” he added.
“But I am happy that in the next three weeks, they will be done, and we shall resume our normal training,” he said.
“Some of our players had a very bad in office, but it’s normal. We shall go back and work upon our mistakes so that we find the lacking bond in the team.”
