NEC Seeks to Regain Top Spot with Victory Over Soltilo Bright Stars
NEC will be aiming to reclaim the top spot in the Uganda Premier League when they face Soltilo Bright Stars at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Wednesday.
After a frustrating 1-1 draw with URA that saw them lose their place at the top to Vipers SC, coach Hussein Mbalangu’s side will be eager to return to winning ways. With 23 points, a victory would lift NEC back to the summit, at least temporarily, as Vipers are not in action until Saturday.
Soltilo Bright Stars, who are languishing at the bottom of the table with just 6 points, will be desperate to avoid another defeat. The visitors are in dire need of points to move up from the foot of the standings.
UPDF Aims to Keep Unbeaten Home Run Intact Against Mbale Heroes
At Bombo, UPDF will be looking to extend their unbeaten home record as they host Mbale Heroes. The army side, currently in 7th place with 16 points, has the opportunity to close the gap to the top spots. A win would take them level on points with Express and KCCA, who occupy 3rd and 4th place respectively.
Mbale Heroes, still reeling from a heavy 6-0 loss to Kitara in their last match, are determined to pick up points and climb out of the relegation zone. The visitors are sitting at the bottom of the table and will be hoping to upset UPDF and find some form.
