SC Villa notched their first victory under coach Morley Byekwaso, defeating Maroons 2-0 in a FUFA Super 8 rankings match held at Lugogo on Saturday.
Goals from Francis Onekalit and Patrick Kakande in the first half secured the Jogoos’ win, allowing them to finish in 7th place in the tournament. Onekalit opened the scoring early, converting a cross from Najib Yiga, and Kakande added the second goal six minutes before halftime to seal the result.
Maroons, who featured former Villa players Ambrose Kiirya and Bashir Mutanda, ended the preseason tournament in 8th place without a single win.
Later in the day, KCCA and NEC will battle for 5th place, while the final and third-place matches are scheduled for Sunday, with defending champions BUL facing Vipers in the final and the FUFA Select team taking on Kitara in the third-place match.
