The Uganda Premier League saw SC Villa secure a dominant 4-2 victory over Mbarara City at Muteesa II Stadium on Monday.
The Joggos showcased their attacking prowess from the outset, with defender Arnold Odongo heading home a David Owori free-kick in the eighth minute.
Elvis Ngonde doubled Villa’s lead ten minutes later with a powerful shot that caught Mbarara City goalkeeper Abdul Kimera off guard.
Despite Mbarara City’s efforts to find a way back, they were unable to capitalize on their chances.
The second half saw SC Villa continue their dominance.
Patrick Kakande added a third goal in the 46th minute, completing a well-worked team move.
Hakim Kiwanuka extended Villa’s lead further with a solo effort and a skilful chip over the goalkeeper in the 58th minute.
Mbarara City managed to pull two goals back late in the game through Seri Arigumaho and Paul Busolo, but it was too little too late.
SC Villa’s commanding performance secured them all three points and a strong start to the season.
The Joggos will now face Mbale Heroes away from home on Sunday, September 22nd.
