In a major development within the Uganda Premier League, Vipers SC has announced the departure of head coach Nikola Kavazovic, just five matches into the new season.
The Serbian tactician has left the club following a series of underwhelming results, with both parties agreeing to part ways on mutual consent, as confirmed by a statement on the club’s official website.
Kavazovic’s exit comes on the back of a disappointing start to the season, where Vipers SC failed to hit the expected heights.
The coach had arrived with a strong pedigree, having previously managed clubs across Africa, including stints in Botswana, Kenya, and South Africa.
However, despite the high expectations, the results did not align with the club’s ambitions, leading to this early parting of ways.
His first three matches in charge saw the team struggling to find form, resulting in pressure on the coach. However, in his absence, Vipers SC managed to secure a 2-1 win over rivals SC Villa and followed up with a 2-0 victory against Wakiso Giants FC, signaling a potential revival in the team’s performance.
The club has appointed assistant coach Fred Muhuma, who will now team up with John Luyinda to manage the squad on an interim basis.
Together, they will take charge of the team as Vipers SC embarks on the search for a new permanent head coach.
The departure of Kavazovic marks the second managerial change in the Uganda Premier League this week, underlining the intense pressure on coaches to deliver results in the highly competitive league.
In the meantime, Muhuma and Luyinda will have the responsibility of guiding the team through the upcoming fixtures as the club seeks stability and consistency on the pitch.
With two consecutive victories under their belt, the interim management team will be hoping to build on this momentum as they await the next chapter in the club’s managerial journey.
