In a stunning turn of events, Bugolobi-based StarTimes Uganda Premier League outfit NEC FC have officially parted company with head coach Hussein Mbalangu, bringing an abrupt end to his reign at the ambitious side.
The club confirmed the development through a bold statement released across their social media platforms, revealing that both parties had “mutually agreed to terminate” his employment contract.
This announcement comes just weeks after NEC FC’s management moved to suspend Mbalangu for two months, a decision that sparked debate among supporters and pundits alike.
Sources close to the club indicate that the coach’s alleged involvement with Ssaza side Ssingo, who recently stormed into the finals of this year’s Masaza Cup, played a significant role in his disciplinary woes.
During his tenure, Mbalangu was credited for instilling a fighting spirit within the squad, but recent off-pitch controversies appear to have overshadowed his technical contributions.
In the meantime, NEC have confirmed that former Express FC coach James Odoch will take charge of the team in an interim capacity as the club initiates the process of appointing a new head coach.
The Bugolobi outfit will hope for a fresh start under Odoch’s guidance when they host BUL FC this Saturday, November 8, at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
