Mbale Heroes Football Club has terminated the services of head coach Asaph Mwebaze, citing allegations of professional misconduct and unethical behavior. The decision was announced in an official statement dated December 27, 2024, following a series of complaints from fans and club leadership. The club accused Mwebaze of actions that violated its professional standards and threatened its reputation.
Among the allegations leveled against Mwebaze were public attacks on the club’s top leadership and fans via social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter). Additionally, he allegedly engaged in inappropriate exchanges within fan WhatsApp groups and verbally clashed with supporters, further fueling internal conflicts within the club. These incidents culminated in an offensive gesture during the team’s game against Vipers FC, where Mwebaze reportedly showed fans the middle finger.

The club emphasized that such behavior was unacceptable and detrimental to fostering a positive environment for fans, players, and other stakeholders. In response, Mbale Heroes issued an immediate suspension to the coach, which would last 28 days while investigations were carried out. During this period, Mwebaze was barred from coaching the team and placed on half pay.
However, the situation escalated as tensions between Mwebaze and the club’s management deepened. After reviewing the preliminary findings of the investigation and considering the potential impact on the club’s reputation, Mbale Heroes decided to terminate the coach’s contract. The club assured fans that this decision was made in the best interests of the team and its values.
Mbale Heroes thanked supporters for their patience and understanding as the club navigates this challenging period. They pledged to uphold professionalism and ensure stability within the team as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
