Mbale Heroes have named Mubarak Wamboya Abu as their interim head coach following the suspension of Asaph Mwebaze.
Mwebaze was suspended last week for 28 days over alleged indiscipline, according to a statement released by the club.
Wamboya, who previously managed Gaddafi FC and Onduparaka FC, will take charge of the team for the remaining two fixtures of the league’s first round. “Mbale Heroes is pleased to announce the appointment of Mubarak Wamboya Abu as the interim head coach for the remaining two games of the season after the suspension of our head coach Asaph Mwebaze,” the statement read.
The upcoming fixtures for the newly promoted side are against Maroons (away) on January 2 and NEC (home) on January 9.
Mwebaze’s return after his suspension remains uncertain, especially amidst reports of strained relationships with some club administrators and fans.
Wamboya becomes the third coach to take charge of Mbale Heroes this season, following Richard Malinga and Asaph Mwebaze. The club currently sits in the relegation zone, in the bottom three, with just nine points.
