Forward Luis Suarez announced his retiring from international duty to end a 17-year thrilling and dramatic international career.
Hanging the boots, Suarez ended his career, having scored 69 goals in the 143 appearances since his debut against Columbia in February 2007.
The forward was emotional during the ceremony, where he noted that he will now channel his strength, love, and courage to the stands.
“Uruguay is bigger than any player. Starting from today, I will be another fan,” the forward stated.
Despite putting up a great fight in the emotional game, Uruguay was held in a goalless draw against Paraguay in a South American World Cup Qualifier.
Suarez now will concentrate on his club career at Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer ahead of the playoffs.
