Kitara FC heads into the second round of the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League without their talisman, Denis Omedi, after completing their mid-season transfer business with minimal changes.
The Royals saw two departures and made just one signing during the window. Omedi, who had been the team’s standout performer, joined Rwandan giants APR after an impressive spell with Kitara, where he scored 19 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions.
The club also parted ways with midfielder Umar Lutalo, whose contract was terminated just four months after his arrival. Lutalo, a free-agent signing from SC Villa last September, had been absent since November 2024 without formal communication. Following discussions, both parties mutually agreed to his exit.
To reinforce the squad, Kitara brought in midfielder Amos Etoju from Mbale Heroes on a six-month deal. Etoju, who featured in ten matches in the first half of the season, is expected to strengthen the team’s midfield as they prepare for a crucial second round.
With the secondary transfer window now closed, Kitara faces the challenge of adapting without their star forward. The team will now focus on maintaining their competitive edge as the league resumes next week, determined to prove they can thrive despite Omedi’s departure.
