The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed a new league format for the upcoming 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season, with 13 clubs already backing the project.
While clubs such as SC Villa, Vipers SC, and NEC FC remain hesitant, FUFA’s newly elected president has vowed that the project will be implemented. He expressed optimism that the remaining clubs will eventually embrace the idea once ongoing consultations are finalized.
The new structure proposes a four-round format, a shift that FUFA believes will raise competitiveness and improve the league’s overall quality. Discussions, however, are still ongoing as stakeholders seek common ground before the official kickoff of the season.
