Thomas Tayebwa, Uganda’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament and a die-hard Manchester United fan, had a day to remember at Old Trafford as he watched his beloved team dismantle Everton with a 4-0 victory in the Premier League.
This emphatic win marked the first league triumph under new manager Ruben Amorim. Tayebwa, accompanied by his family, capped off the thrilling experience with a special meeting with legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Expressing his excitement, Tayebwa lauded the stellar performances of Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee. Rashford delivered a stunning brace, including a spectacular volley from a Bruno Fernandes corner and a sharp finish early in the second half. Zirkzee also netted twice, with Amad Diallo providing crucial assists for both goals.
The victory propelled United to ninth place in the Premier League after 13 games, offering a strong start to the Amorim era.
Tayebwa highlighted the privilege of meeting Sir Alex Ferguson, widely regarded as one of the greatest managers in football history.
In October, Tayebwa extended an invitation to Manchester United to visit Uganda, which boasts one of the club’s largest fan bases. The invitation was conveyed through goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Following the game, Tayebwa took to Twitter to celebrate the team’s success’ What a first home game for Amorim! Another excellent performance from @AndreyOnana with a clean sheet! 4-0 @ManUtd. Well done boys!’- he wrote
