Newly Uganda Premier League entrants, Lugazi FC, are set to make a major managerial change by appointing David Obua as their new head coach.
Obua, who has been a free agent since parting ways with URA FC in April this year, is expected to be unveiled soon, replacing Sadick Ssempigi, who was sacked last week due to poor results.
Obua, UEFA license holder previously served as an assistant coach at Maroons FC and also had a successful stint as the head coach of Lango Province in the FUFA Drum tournament before joining URA FC.
The former Uganda Cranes star will now have the task of reviving Lugazi FC’s fortunes, as the team currently sits at the bottom of the Uganda Premier League table.
Lugazi FC has been under the stewardship of interim coach Oliver Mbekeka, who has been guiding the team since Ssempigi’s departure.
Obua’s appointment comes just in time for Lugazi’s crucial upcoming fixture against Express FC at Nakivubo Stadium, scheduled for Tuesday, October 22nd, at 7pm.
Fans and analysts alike will be keen to see how Obua’s arrival impacts the club’s performance as they fight to climb up the league standings.
