Cameroon and Algeria have confirmed their places in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals set to take place in Morocco, following crucial victories in their respective qualifiers.
Both teams will now join the hosts, Morocco, and Burkina Faso as the four nations guaranteed to compete in the tournament so far.
Cameroon, five-time AFCON champions, sealed their qualification with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kenya on Monday, October 14th. The game, played at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole, Uganda, saw Boris Enow net the only goal, taking Cameroon’s tally to 10 points from four matches.
With this result, the Indomitable Lions ensured they would finish in the top two of their group, which is sufficient to secure a place at the 24-team finals.
Meanwhile, Algeria, with a perfect record of four wins from four games, also secured their qualification with a full haul of 12 points.
The Algerian side, known for their attacking prowess and discipline, will be looking to add to their AFCON title collection after winning in 2019.
