In a significant milestone for Ugandan football, Busoga United FC has been officially handed over to the community of Busoga, marking a new era for the club.
The historic decision was announced by FUFA on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
The transfer of ownership to the community aligns with FUFA’s vision of fostering grassroots football development and strengthening the connection between fans and their local clubs.
The move was endorsed by His Royal Highness, the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Kadumbula Nadiope V.
Following a successful meeting between the Kyabazinga and FUFA President Moses Magogo on August 16, 2024, FUFA was tasked with forming a transitional executive committee to oversee the club’s operations.
On September 3, the committee appointed Hajji Abubaker Walubi as chairman and Diana Hope Nyago as vice president.
Daniel Gulere has been named CEO, responsible for the day-to-day management of the club as it strives to return to the top tier of Ugandan football.
The community takeover of Busoga United marks a significant step forward in the development of Ugandan football and offers a promising future for the club.
